From the 2020 Voters' Guide:
Promoting Quality of Life, Fiscal Responsibility, and Transparency of Government
These principles guide my views as a candidate for city council. Valuing the unique Sandy lifestyle while exercising fiscal responsibility with complete transparency will ensure this lifestyle for many generations.Â
I support the following because they improve or maintain our Quality of Life:
Stable police department with appropriate oversight
Safe and efficient streets, sidewalks, and traffic control
Reopening the Sandy Aquatic Center
Accessible and maintained parks and trails
New wastewater treatment facility to end spilling raw sewage into Tickle Creek
Improved cooperation with Oregon Trail School District
Healthy local business environment
I oppose the following because they do not meet my principles:
Creation of a new tax district to reopen the pool - Creates a new layer of government bureaucracy and inefficiency while removing city control of our parks and pool
Politicizing the city council - Party politics do not belong in our non-partisan city government
Incentives for developers - New development must fund their own infrastructure and improvements
Intolerance, bigotry - Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and fairness
Business handouts - Businesses need a level playing field for a long-term healthy business climate
I have lived in Sandy for 23 years. I have been joined by parents and siblings who moved here for our unique lifestyle. I grew up in construction and have spent my career as an analyst, software developer, small business owner, and a project manager. I ask questions - lots of questions. I will bring fairness and transparency through formal analysis and structure to the complex issues facing the city council. I appreciate your vote and trust.
